Not having a bobbin threader can be quite the hassle. Transporting a bobbin threader in any soft-sided gear bag is problematic. Will that wisp of wire survive the next trip?
I was inspired, probably saw it somewhere else, but here it is.
Take a common button, any sort will do. Take about a foot of 8-12 lb. monofilament. Tie one end to the button. The mono is passed through the business end of the bobbin, looped and passed back up and out the business end. Now you have a small loop on the thread feed side to pass enough thread through to then pull the two ends up and out, threading the bobbin. Be sure you get a large enough diameter of mono to have the stiffness required to make it not simply a repeat of trying to thread the thread through on it's own! And not so big that two pieces won't have leeway to work in the shaft. I am using Walmart 8 lb. mono and it does a fine job.
By the way, all the button does is let you keep up more easily with a twelve inch section of mono.
